Free trial setup error

Incident Report for Fluid Attacks

Postmortem

Impact

At least one user experienced issues when creating a free trial account. The issue started on UTC-5 25-02-21 15:19 and was reactively discovered 17.8 days (TTD) later by a client who reported through our help desk [1] that, during the step to select a repository for scanning, the platform failed to display any repositories to choose from. The problem was resolved in 1.2 days (TTF), resulting in a total impact of 19 days (TTR) [2].

Cause

The platform couldn’t complete the setup to give the user access to their group due to an error that stopped the system from saving the necessary information. Additionally, the system relied on stored data to speed things up, but this wasn’t refreshed when needed. As a result, the setup process used old information, making the system think the user didn’t have access [3].

Solution

The platform was updated to ensure it always checks for the latest information during setup. This prevents outdated data from causing errors and ensures everything runs smoothly [4].

Conclusion

The platform handles and updates information was improved to ensure it always works with the most up-to-date data. This helps prevent similar issues in the future and ensures users can complete the free trial setup without problems. DATA_QUALITY < INCOMPLETE_PERSPECTIVE
